Q. What is Personal Power?
A. Personal power is the same as vital life force energy. Simply put, your personal power is the energy which runs through your body and gives you life.
Q. What do I have to do to receive this energy?
A. You don't have to do anything. Energy is constantly streaming into your physical body and being pumped through seven energy centers, called chakras, located along the length of your body from the crown of your head to the base of your spine. The chakras are four to six-inch spinning wheels or vortexes that act like valves which allow your energy to flow freely within you.
Q. How do I get to the place of knowing that I am powerful?
A. The first step is to be aware. Embrace the truth of, 'I am powerful'. Literally, right now, in this very moment, you are full of power. You are like a tall floor lamp that is plugged into an electrical outlet and turned on all the time - the power running through the lamp is live current, as is the power running through you.
Q. I believe I'm powerful, why don't I feel powerful?
A. In addition to being energy centers, the chakras act like a clearing house for your thoughts and emotions. Their valves open and close in response to what you think and how you feel. If you are not feeling 'in your power' it's probably because the valves of your chakras are blocked due to a belief system that is out of alignment with your values and therefore is not serving you. Examine your thoughts and feelings for signs of negativity. Notice if you stuff down and attempt to deny how you truly feel and what's important to you.
Q. I don't know what being in my power feels like. Can you explain it?
A. Feeling excited, passionate, authentic, clear, free, peaceful, high energy. Living life full out, on purpose, in alignment with your values.
Q. I once felt like that (powerful) and now I feel like I lost my power. What happened?
A. You can't lose your power. As long as you are alive, your life force energy is flowing through you. That is your power. What has happened is that you have given your power away to someone or something else, or decided not to feel your personal power for a while. You may feel flat, deflated, lonely, out of sorts, or out of control of all or some part of your life. You are living according to the dictates of your ego-self (the part of your mind that does negative self-talk) as opposed to your Wise-Self.
Q. Why would I choose to give my power away?
A. Ask yourself, "What am I afraid of?" Fear keeps people from hearing the words of their Wise Selves and separates them from other people. Perhaps you are experiencing some life results that feel strange, uncomfortable, or unsafe. It may be easier or more comfortable for you to withdraw or back off from being authentic (powerful). Look inside, notice how it is your choice to withdraw from feeling powerful.
Q. What are some signs that I am stuck?
A. Ill health, excessive fatigue, fear, doubt, anger, judgment, resentment, guilt, shame, worry, feelings of unworthiness, loneliness, not honoring value system, pretending not to know.
Q. What's the risk of not owning my personal power?
A. Feeling powerless is an indication that one or more chakras is blocked and that your energy is stuck. Eventually you will exhibit symptoms of the dis-ease of your body and/or mind. This shows up as physical, mental, and/or emotional disease or breakdown that can be as slight as a headache or backache and as serious as life threatening illness.
Q. What about power that seems 'too great' and power that is abusive?
A. Remember, we are talking about 'personal power' -power from within and used for our personal well-being. This power can not be construed as boastful or egotistical. And, if you do not take it on as rightfully yours and own it, it will own you. The unexpressed energy of your stuffed personal power will seek a way to express itself and be known. You may not recognize the corruption of your personal power as you become covert about being powerful and turn into a back-seat driver, a controlling parent, a domineering partner, a covert friend, a manipulative employer, or a tyrannical leader.
Q. How can I get over worry and fear and truly own my worthiness?
A.
- Decide to make yourself your number one priority.
- Be grateful for all that you have.
- Realize that you are not alone as you go through this process.
- Learn about your chakras and how to clear them (this is much easier than you can imagine).
- Learn about deliberate creation and apply the lessons. 'Ask and It Is Given' by Esther and Jerry Hicks can help you with this.
- Walk your talk.
- Hire a Personal Coach who will assist you to get clear about who you are at the core of yourself and what's really important to you.
